Entry Guidelines
Any consulting firm that meets our entry criteria may enter the MCA Management Awards. We usually get a mix of entries from both member and non-member consulting firms.
and out of these winners four overall awards are made – the Platinum Award for the overall winner, the Best Small Firm Award, the Best Private Sector Project and the Best Public Sector Project.
NEW! Firm award categories
In order to enter for a firm awards category, the consulting firm has to submit a 1500 word business case outlining why they are most innovative or collaborative firm, backing this up with evidence and measurable results and two testimonials. Each firm may enter both of these awards if they wish.
- Participating consultancy organizations must employ at least ten full-time consultants in the UK and have been in practice in the UK for a minimum of three years.
- Non MCA members should be compliant with the MCA code of practice and able to provide evidence if required to do so.
- All projects should have been completed in the last 18 months before the entry deadline.
- All case studies should be no longer than 2000 words (excluding main headings and graphic headings) and must use the headings outlined in the case study structure (see below).
- Appendices must be contained within the 2000 word limit and all other supplementary information will be disregarded by the judges.
- A case study can be submitted into up to three categories, provided that each entry is tailored to suit each category.
- The judges reserve the right to re-allocate an entry to a different category if appropriate.
- One consultant and one client representative must sign the entry form as confirmation of their consent to participate.
- Winning submissions will be published in a variety of media and will be featured in a special management today supplement for which Haymarket retains editorial control and copyright.
Each entry for the Management Awards must constitute a 2000 word case study (note, the word count is a condition of entry), following the below structure. There are six main headings:
- Executive summary (no more than 250 words)
Include a statement of 50 words to illustrate what you did that your client could not have done without your involvement. - What was the problem/opportunity faced by the client?
- Brief project background
- Consulting activity
• Solution proposed by consultants
• How this solution was arrived at
• What actions were taken?
• Scope/scale of consulting intervention (e.g. timescales, number/seniority of people involved)
• The skills and experience required of the consulting team - Success factors and challenges
• To what extent were project objectives met and challenges overcome?
• What were the benefits to the client? (e.g. tangible/intangible/long term sustainable benefits etc)
• What were the lessons learnt from your intervention? (both from client and consultant perspective) - The client/consultant relationship
• How did this work? (please use client testimonials to illustrate)
• How did you ensure that the client fully understood the solution?
• How did the consultants positively challenge the client’s thinking?
Each entry must constitute a 1500 word business case (note, the word count is a condition of entry), following the below structure:
- Why the consulting firm is ‘the most…….‘ (select depending on which award the firm is entering)
- Business approach and real-life examples
- Measurable results
- Two testimonials - one must be a client testimonial (no more than 150 words each, word count part of overall 1500)
Entry fees are £399 (plus VAT) per entry for MCA member firms and £599 (plus VAT) per entry for non-member firms. Payment will be accepted by credit card via the online entry process, or an invoice can be requested.
