ISB 2008 batch Gets Rs 19 lakh Placement Offer

Hyderabad-based Indian School of Business on Wednesday said the average cost to company (CTC) which has been accessible to its students this year is Rs 19 lakh, but did not unveil the highest CTC. The number of global companies visiting the ISB has doubled this year with 41 new foreign firms visiting the campus for the first time. Asked why the institute was not revealing the highest salary package offered, ISB Deputy Dean Ajit Rangnekar told reporters, “Talking about a few fat packages does not give a true picture of the industry trends and the hope of the students shoot up drastically.

The offers include a diversity of functions and industries such as consulting, manufacturing, real estate, IT and others. While maximum placements have happened in the financial services (22 per cent) and consulting (44 per cent). This year a total of 81 per cent scholar have made career shifts. Interestingly, the batch of 2008 had 25 per cent women, which according to ISB is the largest number in an Indian B-School.

CAT online From November 2009

 

Come November 2009 and aspirants come into view for Common Admission Test can look forward to doing away with paper work as CAT, one of the country’s important entry exams is all set to go online from 2009. The result will impact thousands of students who each year appears for the highly gung ho entrance exam at centers across the country in the ambition of making it to the hallowed corridors of IIMs.

Speaking on the new initiative, Asish Bhattacharyya, admissions chairperson at IIM Calcutta, said that an online system would “help us handle the huge number of students appearing for the test every year. Last year the number crossed 2.3 lakh”. This number is only expected to increase with projections of three lakh-plus in 2009.

Once the new system would be in place, not all students will be able to take the exam on the same day as is the system suitable now. The exam would then take place in phases with ’spread out batches’ within an era of a few months. The other alter will be that in its place of the current single exam paper, the online test will take fairly a few unlike papers of the same level of complicatedness.

“With the online test, CAT will be similar to the GMAT test in its process. This will be surely beneficial for the students as they can appear in the exam according to their correctness rather than a particular day”, Director, IIM-Indore.

The online CAT exam will be demeanor on the pattern of similar international exams like GMAT with the only exception that the results will not be declared instantly.

The cost of application once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. The application can also be downloaded form the website: www.unom.edu.in and those who downloaded the form should pay Rs.200/- (Rs.100/- for SC/ST candidates) as application fee along with the filled-in application.
