Joint Management Entrance Test, or JMET, is a joint examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for its two-year post-graduate management degree program. JMET is only a qualifying examination. Candidates have to apply separately to the institute of their choice. Notification regarding the availability of application forms is published in the month of August/September in major national newspapers.

JMET exams are held in the month of December. For every incorrect answer, there is a negative marking of -0.25 marks. JMET is different from other management entrance exams because it focuses more on higher mathematics. With more than 30 centers all over India, JMET results provide a basis for all participating institutes to shortlist potential candidates. Each institute has its own independent selection process which includes group discussions and personal interviews.

As of now, the two year full time post-graduate degree program in Management is offered by the following institutes:
• Indian Institute of Science – Bangalore
• Indian Institute of Technology – Delhi
• Indian Institute of Technology – Kanpur
• Indian Institute of Technology – Kharagpur
• Indian Institute of Technology – Madras
• Indian Institute of Technology – Roorkee

Eligibility criteria
IISc Bangalore
Program -
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
• Candidates need to have a B.E./B.Tech. in any branch of Engineering (or its equivalent)
• Candidates appearing in their final semester can also apply

IIT Bombay
Program -
Master of Management (M. Mgt.)
• Candidates need to have a first class Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (or its equivalent)
• Candidates with a first class Master's degree in Science can also apply

IIT Delhi
Programs-
Master of Business Administration (MBA) with focus on Management Systems
Master of Business Administration (MBA) with focus on Telecommunication Systems Management
• Candidates need to have a Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy or a B.Sc. Agriculture Engineering (Minimum 4 years after 10+2)
• Candidates with a Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Application, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational, Information Science or Agriculture can also apply
• Candidates with a Master's Degree in Commerce or Economics are also eligible for admission

IIT Kharagpur
Program -
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
• Candidates need to have a first class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology
• Candidates with a first class Master’s degree in Science (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) can also apply
• Candidates with a first class Master’s degree in Economics or Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) are also eligible for admission
• Candidates appearing in their final semester can also apply

IIT Madras
Program -
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
• Candidates need to have a B.E./B.Tech. in any branch of Engineering (or its equivalent)
• Candidates appearing in their final semester can also apply

IIT Roorkee
Program-
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
• Candidates need to have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline of Engineering/Technology (or its equivalent)
• Candidates with a Master's degree in any discipline from a recognized Institute/University with at least 60% aggregate or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10 point scale can also apply
