XAT is an all-India admission test to select the most suitable students for the academic programmes of XLRI Jamshedpur– School of Business& Human Resources. Although the test is conducted by XLRI for admission to its courses, the test is now accepted by almost 35 other management institutes.

Who conducts the test?  

Forover the past 50 years, XLRI– School of Business& Human Resources has been conducting XAT exams.

Who can take XAT?

Candidates looking forward to appearing for the XAT should necessarily have a Bachelor’s degree in the 10+2+3 format. However, students appearing for their final year may also appear for XAT

How to apply? / Fees

 1. Candidates, interested in XLRI, have to register for XAT. The XAT ID and password are required for applying to XLRI.

2. A Candidate intending in applying for the programmes can obtain the prospectus from select branches of State Bank of India on payment of Rs. 800

3. A candidate can apply for a maximum of three programmes. In case the candidate wishes to appear for more than one programme, there will be an additional charge of Rs. 200 (total sum will thus be Rs.1000/-) towards the prospectus. 

4. In case you have already bought a prospectus for Rs.800, and then decide to appear for multiple programmes, you will need to send a crossed demand draft of Rs. 200 in favour of XLRI Jamshedpur, payable at Jamshedpur. The demand draft should be sent along with:

(i) Name of the candidate

(ii) Complete address

(iii) XAT ID number

(iv) XLRI prospectus number

(v) E-mail address.

Also, ensure that your name and XAT ID is mentioned on the reverse of the demand draft.  

Registering for XLRI

 1. Candidates can log on to the websitewww.xlri.edu, and click on XLRI Registration to fill the XLRI form and opt for the programme(s) of your choice.

2. Personal details, the XLRI prospectus number, date, amount and SBI branch must be provided while submitting the form online.

3. After providing the bank details, take a print outof the XLRI Payment Advice Form (XLRI PA Form).

4. Candidates have to download and take a print out of the XAT Payment Advice cum Photo Form (XAT PP Form). The candidate has to paste their recent photograph and give full signature at the space indicated on the XAT PP Form.

 5. The candidate has to enclose the third copy of bank/XLRI pay-in-slip along with the duly completed XLRI PA Form and use only the special envelope provided with the XLRI Prospectus to send it by registered post /speed post/courier within a week of obtaining the same.

 6. It is important to keep a copy of the printout of the XAT ID and password. This will be required for any changes in the personal details submitted or any correspondence with the XAT Office.

7. The candidate has to go online to www.xlri.edu anytime during December 20, 2006 and January 5, 2007 and take a print out of the XAT 2007 Admit Card where the Address of the Test Centre will be mentioned.

How is XAT structured?

 XAT is usuallya two-and-a-half hour exam. It is pre-dominantly a multiple choice paper (two hours) that includes an essay writing (20 minutes) as well.

Candidates clearing the test have to appear for a group discussion and/or an interview.
Reporting the scores
The XAT Scorecard is mailed to candidates after the tests. It is also made available online.
